Mental health and wellness services is, I think, in its name. It’s like we’re saying, at forefront, mental health is important. And we’re not saying it’s only this package, you know, it only comes in counseling or it only comes in a certain way. Or you have to be in such a state of stress.
We’re coming from the standpoint that we’re all stressed out, actually, and that’s not great. And so instead of trying to say services must be met in a particular way for each person or each student, we’re actually going like, our full mental health and our wellness is ideal and important, and we need to keep on that regularly. It’s like a regular kind of thing versus intervention.
So we kind of have that built in with our department where we have preventative things that we’re working on with students, educational. And at the same time, there are still the services that provide that direct care if need be.
For our online population, I think one of the best features of the department of Mental Health and Wellness is that we’re trying to build the bridge to be able to go like, hey, here’s where you should go.
And we have a couple of online platforms that are set up. These are available for all our Post students and our Post associates, actually. One is called SOAR, and it’s basically runs like an employee assistance program, but it’s set up for any student and their family members.
And so they can have access to counseling services. They can have access to legal services. If there’s something really pending or something that’s going on that’s really stressing them, there’s crisis counselors within that platform.
Then they also can have up to six sessions with a counselor through that platform and also be connected to someone in their home state. So it’s a really beautiful entry for people to get into a system and then be able to have services.
And the other is called YOU@Post. The way we usually talk about You@Post is that it’s sort of trying to get a good sense of like what matters to you, how you can thrive at school and, you know, what are the things that can be put into place.
So it takes like a self-assessment, and students are able to kind of log in and sort of track their progress and different things so they can track, you know, they might have academic goals, they might have career ones, they might have athletic ones, even. And that’s a really beautiful way that they can track sort of their progress and how they’re doing.
I think you just want online students to know that you’re not a second thought. Actually, you’re one of our first thoughts in terms of being able to help you. You know, Post Makes It Personal® because we care. And I think that that demonstration, you know, we lead with our hearts in that way and our services are no exception. All the different things that Post provides and the different services allows students to maintain a healthy educational journey.
